SAFA TAKLA
I Began my practice at a very early age. From drawing to painting and experimenting with print making and extracting botanic tannins for mark-making. I have developing different and experimental techniques for just over 40 years.
I predominantly use gouache on paper as the preferred medium, along with botanic extracts and inks to establish the desired base to work on. The experimental part is usually at the initial stages of my work, where I allow nature and the elements to work on marking and staining the paper using organic matter and natural processes such as heat and rust. The process then involves developing layer upon layer of broad to fine brushwork to arrive at the final and desired aesthetic.
