Join Janelle Williams at CRATE59 as she shares how vintage fabrics, weathered timber, patterned glass and old wallpaper become artworks filled with memory and personal meaning.

Drawing on her childhood in a 1960s Brisbane home, Janelle creates layered constructions that evoke domestic interiors. Soft upholstery meets hard surfaces, paint is built up and sanded back, and loose threads hint at the uncertainty beneath familiar spaces of comfort and order.

In this film, she discusses her fascination with the stories materials carry, the unexpected beauty on the reverse of a tapestry, and the skills she continues to learn as her work develops. She also introduces Green with Envy, her contribution to the PROCESS exhibition.
